Historical Aircraft Restoration Society

Historical Aircraft Restoration Society

The Historical Aircraft Restoration Society was formed in 1979 by a group of aviation enthusiasts interested in the preservation of Australian Aviation History. Since that time the Society has come a long way, but our mission remains the same: "To recover and where possible restore to flying condition, aircraft or types of aircraft that have played a significant part in Australian Aviation History both in the Civil and Military arenas".

The aim of this web site is to give a broad, if only brief, insight into the Historical Aircraft Restoration Society (HARS) and it's goals and achievements.

Since its humble beginnings back in 1979, the Society has restored a large number of aircraft and our fleet now comprises a commendable collection ranging from the small Cessna C-180 and a DeHavilland Tiger Moth right through to the pride of the fleet, the Lockheed Super Constellation (Connie).

In November 2002, the Society relocated its operations to The Illawarra Regional Airport, Albion Park Rail. In recent years, our significant growth in aircraft acquisitions has required the Society to seek a more permanent facility capable of expansion to house our aircraft. The Illawarra Regional Airport is an ideal location and it will allow the Society to establish a world class Flying Museum.

Another HARS Connie blocks traffic in PIMA

The C121 Warning Star which is part of HARS Inventory has been moved from its forlorn resting place in the Desert to the Pima Aerospace Museum after a lot of work by HARS Engineers. The continuing assistance by Pima people has been very welcome.

This particular project to preserve a Connie Flight Deck is being sponsored by local Company "Thomas & Coffey"
